Harbour Island is part of the Bahamas. The island’s most famous part is the Pink Sand Beach because of its pink sand. The sand is composed of bits of coral, broken shells, minute rocks and calcium carbonate from tiny marine invertebrates. The pink color comes from microscopic shelled animals known as Foraminifera.
